Elements of a complete design





Feature of design:

1. The vertical lines/ space is to represent a warp or end 
2. The Horizontal space is to represent a weft or pick
3. Showing the direction of warp and weft
4. Each square in the design paper indicates an intersection of an end and a pick.
   represents warp up over weft. And  represents weft up over warp.
5. Usually only one repeat is shown on design paper.
6. Symbols indicate repeat unit.
7. Represents starting point.
8. Writing the formula number
9. Showing the drafting plan and lifting plan

Methods of Indicating of drafting plan

3. By Numbering

1. Used to produce decorative weave with large repeat unit.

2. There is no fixed drafting system and the draft looks like a curve.
