Method of Round knife fabric cutting


Round knife:
1.    The elements of around knife are –
a)    A base plate,
b)    An electric motor,
c)     A handle- for the cutter to direct the blade.
d)    A circular blade rotating so that the leading edge cuts downwards into the fabric.
2.    Blade diameter varies from 6 cm to 20 cm.

5.    The circular knife is driven by 1000 to 3500 r. p. m.
6.    Blade edge:
a)      Waved edge.
b)      Toothed edge.
c)      Circular edge.

Advantages:
1.    Suitable for cut single ply as well as multilayer also (say 20-30 layers).
2.    Suitable for small scale cutting.
3.    Suitable for gentle curve cutting.

Disadvantages:
1.    Not suitable for cutting curved lines in high lies because the blade does not strike all the plies simultaneously at the same point.
4.    Possibility of accident is high.
5.    Difficult to cut small components.

6.    Needs skill operators.
