Determination of the English count of cotton yarn by Warp Reel & Electric Balance

Introduction:  Count  is a numerical expression which defines yarn. Count is a number indicating the mass per unit length or length per unit mass. There are two types of count
  1. Direct  Count
  2. Indirect count

Object:
  • To know about the yarn count
  • To calculate the yarn fineness
  • To calculate the yarn smoothness
  • To maintain by requirement

Working principle: We know that English count is an indirect count. In an indirect system the yarn number or count is the number of units of length per unit of weight.

English count: Number of hank of 840 yds present in one pound of system, And it is denoted by “Ne”

So , Mathematically,
Ne= L×w/l×W
Where,
    N=count
    L= sample length
    L=unit of length
    w=unit of weight
    W= sample weight
It is used for staple fibre.

Machine description:
In this experiment we show this machine contains more bobbin one tension and yarn taker. The warp Rell is using to measure the length of yarn. The  yarn is taken by a wheel where circumstance is 1.5 yds. Electric balance is used to determine  the weight of cotton yarn. We also use one bobbin carrier yarn pass to the yarn carrier and It goes to the Warp Reel via yarn is taken and we found our desired on.

Apparatus:
  1. Bobbin carrier
  2. Yarn package
  3. Yarn tension
  4. Handle
  5. Warp Rell
  6. Electric balance
  7. Steel bar
Warp Reel & Electric Balance

Working procedure: In this experiment at first we have taken a yarn package and put it on the bobbin carrier. Then the yarn passed through the yarn tension to Warp Weel. Then we start moving 80 times. Then we found our desire one. The we complete the calculation and find the count CV% controlling, working action limit etc. Before calculation we weight the desire yarn finally. By this value we draw the graph of control limit.

Calculation:
From table 1 count N
We know Ne=(sample length/unit of length)×(unit of weight/sample weight)

So,  Ne1 =(120×453.46)÷(840×1.44)=45
       Ne2 =(120×453.46)÷(840×1.50)=43.2
       Ne3 =(120×453.46)÷(840×1.45)=44.69
       Ne4 =(120×453.46)÷(840×1.49)=43.49
       Ne5 = (120×453.46)÷(840×1.46)=44.38
Average count x᷇= =44.152

Remarks: In this expriment we know aabout english count system. It is a Indirect ssystem .It is a idirect system .It is very essential for good textile engineer.
